Social Responsibility | Paperblanks

Social Responsibility

Giving back and social outreach have always been part of the Paperblanks ethos. We contribute to a diverse range of local and international programs and agencies that each, in their own way, help to improve the world around us. Whether donating journals, raising money for a local organization, or sponsoring the Gatoto Integrated Development Programme in Nairobi, Kenya, we are active in helping people, causes, and organizations that align with our core values.

We have worked with the same family-run producer in China for decades. This relationship is a core part of maintaining quality and consistency in our products, as they understand our creative process, never settling until the products created by their mass production techniques mirror the handcrafted prototypes first made by our design team.

Environmental Sustainability

Certification

Our binder boards are made with 100% recycled materials, and we use FSC-certified paper for the text pages of all our books, as well as the retailer catalogues we print in both Europe and North America.

Recycling Information

Each journal includes a QR code linking to further details on our commitment to recycling our products.

Paperblanks Sustainability Statement

Considering the environmental impact of doing business is important to us. That’s why all of our paper is derived from sustainable forest pulp.

All of our book products are made without PVC and they satisfy the rigorous EN Testing and California “Proposition 65” chemical regulation requirements, which aim to protect people, our drinking water, and the environment from substances that are hazardous to health.

We are continually seeking methods to improve our environmental footprint at every step of the process.

Workers Rights

Taking Care of Our People

Our suppliers are held to the highest standards and fulfill the Sedex Ethical Trade requirements, ensuring their workers’ rights are protected.

Worker Rights

Additional certificates held by our suppliers include:

ISO 9001:

An international standard that sets out the requirements for a quality management system, demonstrating that the supplier has processes in place to provide quality products and services.

SA8000 (Social Accountability Management System Standard):

Relates to the empowerment and protection of all personnel who provide products or services relating to the production, printing, processing, and service of office stationery.

Worker Rights

In addition to protecting the rights of workers in the factories we work with, we strive to maintain a positive and supportive internal culture, with a healthy work-life balance.

Paperblanks employees receive generous health benefits, vacation days (including Christmas break), a hybrid work schedule, and rebates for healthy living choices (e.g., bike to work programs or gym allowances), as well as company-sponsored volunteerism days.
